House Bill 1543 wants to, among other things, lower the compulsory age to begin school to 5 (or 6, depending on which amendment gets through.)
This is due up for debate in the House starting possibly tomorrow. If this is important to you, speaking to your Representative would be a possible course of action.
Senate Bill 805 would expand the list of people who had the authority to remove children from a home into protective custody. The Senate Health, Mental Health, Seniors and Families Committee is scheduled to take public testimony regarding this bill beginning Tuesday.
These could possibly have bearing on homeschool families, and without intent to alarm anyone, might be something homeschoolers need to look into if they feel like it might concern them or their ability to homeschool.
Further investigation might give you details and recommendations as to how, or even if, you need to respond to these bills.
