Fall is such a wonderful time of year, especially in beautiful Missouri. I love watching the leaves turn various shades of orange, red, yellow and brown. Our family has a few traditions that we look forward to every year:
In August or early September, our group has a NOT Back to School Party. We usually try to have it the same week area schools start back. In late September, our group parties again (we LOVE parties!) for the fall or autumn equinox. This party is always a potluck with scrumptious fall-themed dishes....soups loaded with veggies, cider, breads, and cakes. We usually do some kind of seasonal craft as well. One year we made incense.
Our family also attends an annual Friends of Missouri Midwives retreat that takes place in September or October~~we're leaving tomorrow morning for this year's retreat!
Next up is October and....HALLOWEEN!! This is a favorite among many of our families. We go to a local pumpkin patch mid-October to get ourselves into the spirit, and on the Thursday closest to Halloween we all dress up for a costume party. One family owns a resort, so we get to use their dining hall as a party place...it's always decked out in full Halloween flair!
