Default Tell us about your typical homeschool day

I have found that letting my kids guide the schedule seems to work the best for us. I have an 11 year old son with Asperger's and routine is something that is a necessity for him.

I have noticed that this year has been a little different in terms of scheduling, in the past we would get up and eat breakfast, do our morning chores and then tackle studying and lessons together. Now that I have older children they are finding it easier to start the days lessons without my help. I have even woken up in the morning to my 11 and 12 year olds sitting at their desks and doing their school work.

So my typical day starts at 6:30 AM

    Older children ages 9, 11, 12

    [6:30[/color]get up and start breakfast/housework
7:00 kids up and eating breakfast
7:30Start schoolwork. We do school in blocks of 30-45 minutes per subject. I let them do the subject in the order they prefer, this has meant less kicking and screaming when they get to a subject they don't favor.
    10:00 break for chores
    10:30 back to work
12:30 finish up school work for the day and have some lunch
1:00 Some sort of physical activity, playing the Wii, or an kids exercise video.

4 and 5 year old typical day

    7:00 breakfast
    8:00time4learning.com
9:00 educational programs like pbs or noggin
    10:00 time4learning.com
    11:00 break
    11:30 time4learning
    12:30 lunch
    1:00 physical activity

Please share your schedule with us!!

ooo, this board is kinda quiet, huh? oh well! i'll be happy to chime in with our schedule! i am a homeschooling mom of 4: dd 13 (doing virtual school thru SCCA), dd 10 (6th gr t4l), dd 8 (3rd gr t4l) and ds 2 1/2 (outside part time preschool and t4l preschool) and my husband is military and currently stationed in korea but we live (for now) in rock hill

our schedule isn't super-strict but here it is:
the kids all have to be up, dressed, breakfast eaten, morning chores done by 8:30am - m/w/f my oldest dd stays home while the rest of us take my son to preschool - when we get back (or at 8:30 on t/th), we start their t4l lessons - they usually start with language arts, then math, then science and finish with social studies - we just switched them to t4l last week so we kept things easy and light - but this week i'm adding handwriting (cursive-1 sheet of copywork per day), spanish (tues/thurs), health(wed), and art(fri) - we usually try to take a break mid-morning for a quick snack and then on m/w/f i have to leave by 11:30 to pick up my son from preschool - the girls usually stay home to finish up schoolwork but the oldest is 13 and has had babysitter training and we live in a great townhome neighborhood with several neighbors that are home and close by during the day - i'm always back within 30 min or so and then we have lunch - on t/th we just keep working until around noon then we stop for lunch - by 2pm all of their schoolwork is usually finished and it's naptime for the little one and me - the older girls usually play wii or go outside to get in some physical activity for the day - i do my son's preschool lessons with him in the evenings most of the time

i hope some other sc families will chime in!
